Located in Himalayan Range, Mt. Everest is known as the highest mountain in the world. The Mt. Everest Base Camp where we are about to visit, is at the altitude of 5,200 meters, 19 kilometers from Mt. Everest, with low oxygen content and high wind speed.
The wind speed is strong from January to March and from November to December every year, which also belongs to the winter season in Tibet. It is accompanied with snow and wind, and the temperature is low.
The wind speed will become weaker to 6 level and below, in between April and October each year. Such climate would be a great benefit to the travel, with the temperature is picking up. Among the period, from July to August belong to summer, with heavy precipitation, and sometimes will meet rainy day. For the details, have to refer to the weather condition on that day.
2. Visiting Mt. Everest, according to the degree of the body comfortably:
Each year, the Tibet in winter (January – March and November – December), is accompanied by low temperature. The oxygen content is lower compared with in summer (April – October). For the accomodation, we will arrange our guests to spend the night in the guesthouse of Rongbuk Monastery or Tingri County. If staying in the guesthouse, there are no heater and airlongdition, even the Tingri County will stop providing tap water, due to the frozen. Of course, with such tough condition, you are not able to take a bath as well.
In summer (April – October), the wind speed will be slower compared with winter, generally we will arrange our guest to pend the night in the tent of EBC or the guesthouse of Rongbuk Monastery. There are neither heating nor private bathroom, with public lavatory, where would feel relatively warmer and comfortable than in winter.
3. Visiting Mt. Everest, according to the economy and the consumption:
Actually, the winter season should be the best time to visit Tibet, and why do we say so?
Most of the tourists choose to come to Tibet from July to September each year, due to the numerous of people at the scenic area and limitation of receipt capacity in some areas. The tent of EBC requests to book in advance and followed by the rise of the price. Especially during the large festivals such as: Shotun Festival. At that time, if more guests arrived in Tibet and accommodate in Mt. Everest, they will be distributed evenly in each tent and have to share with a wide bed for a number of people. However, if you are visiting Mt. Everest in winter, various services and reception capacity can be satisfied. The Mt. Everest in winter is majorly with the landscape of snow-capped mountains. Different with other seasons, it looks look massive and undemonstrative, and its specialty is so obvious.
4. Visiting Mt. Everest, according to the photographing effect:
Visiting Mt. Everest from October to mid-November and during the month of April, there is less rain and fog and thus a greater chance of getting a clear view of Mt. Everest from a distance. During this time, the visibility is very high, the light is just right, the temperature is usually not too cold and the sky is normally clear. There are also fewer tourists, making these time periods ideals for photography enthusiasts to take the best photos of Everest.
