By June 2006, the building area of Lhasa station was 23,600 square meters, the height was 22.9 meters, and the square area of the station was 100,000 square meters. Lhasa station ordinary waiting hall area is reached 1,760 square meters, soft seat waiting hall area is about 800 square meters, VIP waiting room area is less than 700 square meters.
There are Qinghai-Tibet railway, Lhasa-Shigatse railway and Lhas-Nyingchi section of Sichuan-Tibet railway (under construction). In Qinghai-Tibet railway, Lhasa station is 7 kilometers from Lhasa west station and 1,956 kilometers from Xining station. On the Lhasa-Shigatse railway, Lhasa is 5km from the Lhasa south station and 253km from Shigatse station.
The transportation from Lhasa station to the city
1、 By bus. At present, every train has a bus, thus when you arrived Lhasa railway station do not have to worry about no bus to the city. At present, No. 1, No. 13 and No. 14 buses can reach the Potala Palace. The fare is RMB 1.00, if there is too much luggage, the conductor will charge RMB 1.00 extra. The disadvantage of taking a bus is that there may be no seat, for those who just off the train may feel tired, please select carefully. No. 1 bus can get off at "La Bai Station" (Lhasa department store), No. 13 and No. 14 bus can get off at Gongdelin Station, and these stations are located at the central of the city, and close to Potala Palace. What should pay attention to is that the Lhasa bus will rarely auto-report station or prompted in the big screen, generally is the conductor yell in Tibetan when arrived at the station, thus you can remind the conductor when getting on the bus, to remind you to get off with mandarin when you arrived at the destination.
2、 Take a taxi. There are many taxi solicitors at the gate of the railway station, but the taxi drivers generally do not use meters, and generally departure while there are enough people of four, and the price is about RMB 30 per person, can send to your hotel or guesthouse directly. For the first time visitor to Tibet or carry with heavy luggage, take a taxi to the city is a good choice.
At present, the main departure train stations to Lhasa are Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Lanzhou and Xining, with the running time ranging from 20 hours to 40 hours. Visitors can take trains to Lhasa from these cities and passing stops. In addition, the Lhasa to Shigatse train has been opened in 2014, and the whole journey only takes about 3 hours. At the present, Lhasa-Nyingchi railway is under construction and this section of Sichuan-Tibet railway is expected to be put into operation in 2021.
