  • How to Plan a Shanghai Tibet Tour?

  • How to get to Tibet from Shanghai?
    By train: Train Z164 departs from Shanghai at 20:08 (8:08 p.m.) everyday, arriving in Lhasa at 19:30 (7:30 p.m.) on the third day, so you would spend 2 nights on board the train for a total duration of 47 hours and 22 minutes covering 4373 kilometers (2717 miles).

    By flight: There are currently no non-stop flights between Shanghai and Lhasa, but there are numerous daily flights with one stop in cities such as Chengdu and Xi’an. The quickest of these flights take 7 to 8 hours so it’s best to plan for an early morning departure when flying from Shanghai to Lhasa to give yourself more time to acclimatize to the high altitude and different weather in Tibet.

  • Which are the best ways to get to Shanghai?
    As Shanghai is a major international travel hub, there are numerous international flights connecting Shanghai with other major cities throughout the world, as well as domestic flights available to and from most cities in China. There are also modern and convenient high-speed trains available from other major cities in China: Beijing (5 – 6 hours travel time), Xian (6 – 7 hours), Hangzhou (1 hour), Suzhou (30 minutes), Huangshan (4 hours) and more.
  • Is there direct flight from Shanghai to Lhasa?
    Currently, there are 2 daily flights from Shanghai to Lhasa: MU2335 (06:45-14:40) and TV9882 (16:45-23:20), taking more than seven hours.. The former one will make a stop over in Xian while the later in Chengdu. It is suggested to tak the early flight from Shanghai to Lhasa, the flight will arrive in Lhasa at 14:40, you still have enough time to walk around the hotel or have a little bit rest at the hotel. If you take the later one flight, you won't be able to reach the hotel until 1:00 am.
