How to Get Tibet Visa for Canadians?
Tibet visa from Canada needs Chinese visa application for the first step. Applicants submit the necessary supporting documents to visa application centre the area where you residence:
Ottawa; Vancouver, BC; Calgary, AB; Toronto, ON; Montreal, QC.
You are advised to send the visa application and documents to the correct consulate office as follows:
Ottawa: Ottawa Region, Newfoundland & Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Nunavut
Vancouver, BC: British Columbia and Yukon Territory
Calgary, AB: Alberta, Saskatchewan and Northwest Territories
Toronto, ON: Ontario and Manitoba.
Montreal, QC: Quebec and New Brunswick
Canadians who intend to go to China as tourists need L visa(visa category).
Tibet visa requirements as follows:
1. Valid passport with above six months expiration
2. Recent color passport photo (full face, front view, bareheaded and against a white background)
3. Proof of legal stay or residence status (applicable to those not applying for the visa in their country of citizenship)
4. Previous Chinese passport or Chinese visa (applicable to foreign citizens who were Chinese citizens and have obtained foreign citizenship)
5. Round-trip ticket and hotel reservations or Invitation Letter issued by a relevant entity or individual in China.
Ordinary passport holders submit the visa application online and make the appointment in advance to China visa application centre in Ottawa; Vancouver, BC; Calgary, AB; Toronto, ON; Montreal, QC. When applicants submit the supporting documents, photograph and capture ten fingerprints will be required in application centre according to the appointment date and time. Visitors to China whose fingerprints and photo do not match may be denied entry.
Please kindly note that since January 1st 2019, visa applicants should arrive at consulate office located in Ottawa/Vancouver/ Calgary/Toronto/Montreal and leave their ten fingerprints by herself/himself , except children the age under 14 years old and adults above 70 years old. If you do not need to be collected fingerprints, you can apply for a visa through a travel agency or come directly to consulate office in person.
How long for processing Chinese Visa?It usually takes four working days if documents are well prepared. If express, three working days are required. If rush and visa application is submitted before 11:30am, special rush service will be provide by consulate, visa application can be picked up on the second working day.
After getting Chinese Visa, Canadians should apply for Tibet visa or Tibet travel permit (TTP) at least one month before entry into Tibet. In order to get Tibet travel permit, the Tourists need to provide the copy of Canadian passport, scan of Chinese visa, contact information, transportation of departure city in China/Worldwide, itinerary to Tibet local travel agency such as Asia Odyssey Travel.
