Xian to Tibet

Xi 'an, formerly known as Chang 'an, is the capital city of Shanxi province, the starting point of the silk road, and a core city of "Belt and Road initiative". It ranks first among the four ancient capitals of China, and is one of the world's famous historical and cultural cities. It is very convenient to travel from Xi 'an to Tibet, one can go straight to Lhasa either by plane or train.

Transportation from Xi 'an to Tibet:

1. Flight from Xi 'an to Lhasa

There are at least four flights from Xi 'an to Lhasa every day. The earliest flight Tibet Airlines takes off at 06:00 AM and arrives in Lhasa at 09:00. The whole journey takes about 3 hours, which is very convenient but a bit costly at about 2240 RMB per ticket. However there may be a good discount during the off-season. 2. Train from Train from Xi 'an to Lhasa

Train Z265 departures from xi 'an and stops at Lanzhou, Xining, Delingha, Golmu and Naqu. It turns out that you are only 5 stops away from Xi’an to Tibet! The train departures from Xi 'an station at 09:45 am and arrives in Lhasa at 05:30 PM on the third day. It takes about 31 hours and 45 minutes and fee is about 700 RMB per ticket (hard sleeper). Compared with plane, taking a train is much cheaper, and one can enjoy the spectacular scenery along the way, which includes land covered by ice and snow, boundless desert, vast grassland, clear lakes and majestic mountains capped by ice and snow.

Xi'an - Xining /Lanzhou- Lhasa

Taking a train from Qinghai to Tibet can be a good choice too, you can either fly from Xi’an to Lanzhou, and then take a train from lanzhou to Lhasa which takes 24 hours; or fly from Xi’an to Xining, and then take a train from Xining to Lhasa which takes 21 hours. The train that enters Tibet from Xining is recommended for the scenery along the way is very touching. It is considered better to visit Tibet between June to October, during which the weather is amiable and the oxygen is more sufficient.
