1. Everest Base Camp closed to visitors
The 2018 winter tour to Tibet project, since its starting day of November 1st, until March 15th, 2019, we believe that many tourists have put the winter tour to Tibet on the agenda. But suddenly, the "Everest ban" that issued in early December really caught us off guard. How come the Everest Base Camp just been blocked towards all the tourists? The official explanation is to protect the ecological environment of the Everest nature reserve. In this way, the result is understandable. Yet many travelers can't help with to lament: Why didn't I go to Tibet earlier, and why didn't I go to see Mt. Everest earlier? But it seems to be too late to say so. Perhaps near the future the nearest place that we may reach to Mt. Everest is the Rongbuk Monastery, where is also a nice platform to far view the towering Mt. Everest.
2. Holy Elephant Heavenly Gate scenic spot Closed to visitors
However, as early as April 2017, the Holy Elephant Heavenly Gate scenic spot, where is an extremely beautiful and mysterious place located on the Northern bank of Namtso, left our sight due to the implementation of maintenance and repair work. The tourism bureau of Banguo County has stipulated that the closure will start from 58 kilometers away from the scenic spot, which is said to be tentatively scheduled for one year, but so far there is no news about the reopening of the Holy Elephant Heavenly Gate scenic spot.
3. Shuanghu County of Nagqu Closed to foreign visitors
In addition, to the notice from the tourism bureau of Shuanghu County of Nagqu in Tibet in May 2018, in order to ensure the continuous improvement of the ecological environment in the glacier region, the Puruogangri Glacier in the region has suspended all kinds of tourist reception services since June 1. Known as the "Third largest glacier in the world", Puruo Gangri Glacier is an extraordinary work of the nature. It is surrounded by lakes and deserts. What marvels the tourists of the Glacier is that the lake is near the glacier never get frozen, and the desert that near the water grows nothing. It is a regret that the natural landscape of such rare glaciers, lakes and deserts can never be seen again.
For tourists holding with foreign passports, other scenic spots that are currently off limits in Tibet include: the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, Lhamo Latso and the Nanyi Valley scenic area.
Therefore, those who want to come to Tibet must hurry up, for more and more of the beauty of Tibet is leaving us. None of us can be sure whether the spectacular Potala Palace will be the next “closed attraction". So take the advantage of the time, to join a trip to Tibet as soon as you can.
