1, The one who holds the Chinese Travel Document here is referring to the overseas born Chinese under 18 years old, one of the parents is a Chinese citizen, can apply for this Document. Generally, they may hold an overseas passport (Nationality), to apply the Chinese Travel Document, can enter into mainland China without a Chinese Visa. However, for those who is above 18 years have to choose a nationality.
2, Those who hold Chinese Travel Document can be sure that they are overseas born Chinese, and generally, they were born in America. These types of people are holding an American Passport and Chinese Travel Document, thus no need to apply the visa when entering Chinese, but just showing the Chinese Travel Document only.
3, Chinese Travel Document is a ‘Temperary Passport’ that issued towards overseas born Chinese, and this ‘Temperary Passport’ is not recognized in other countries or regions where outside mainland China. Yet have to show while entering mainland China, as Chinese officially recognize it as Chinese nationality. Therefore, even holding an American Passport, no need to apply for Chinese Visa.
4, The Children who hold Chinese Travel Document, if they would like travel to Tibet, they do not need to apply the Tibet Travel Permit. However, if you go to the region such as: Mt. Everest, Ngari Region, Yadong County, and Gyirong etc.
5, Nowadays the common transportations of entering Tibet are flight and train, and can purchase the flight ticket or train ticket with valid Chinese Travel Document to enter Tibet territory, without a Tibet Travel Permit.
6, The children who hold Chinese Travel Document, entering and leaving Tibet have to show the Chinese Travel Document as the only official valid document, and please never show any other foreign passport, otherwise may cause the unpredicted problem. Meanwhile, only suitable for those who entering from the cities of mainland China, and leaving for the city of mainland China.
