How do travelers from visa-free countries go to Tibet

Currently, the following three citizens of the normal passport who visiting mainland China for tourism, business, visiting relatives or less than 15 days in transit, can be exempted from the visa while entering China: Singapore, Brunei, and Japan. However, the following people from the mentioned countries have to apply for the Chinese Visa in advance:

1) Holder of ordinary passport, but is expected to stay for more than 15 days in China for tourism, business or visiting relatives or friends.

2) Holder of ordinary passport who is studying, working, living in China, and journalist.

3) Holders of diplomatic passport and official passport

The brief process of Tibet Travel Permit application:

A, Prepare requested documents:

Scanned original valid passport (make sure the contents are clear and complete)

B、Please confirm the route of entry and depart from Tibet, itinerary schedule, scenic route, reception standards and group number, together with contact information send to our travel agency. We will provide details and quotation accordingly, and feedback to the tourist for confirmation.

C、After the confirmation of the itinerary, our agency will arrange the Tibet Travel Permit. Application duration is up to the content of the intinerary, generally, our regular itinerary would spend at least 20 days to issueing, if aheading towards the restrict regions (please note: The Grand Canyon of Yarlung Tsangpo is not open towards foreign tourists, please do not apply to travel in this region), the process may takes about 35 days. Consider the related work such as book the ticket, hotels, tourguide and vehicle, etc. Please arrange the application procedure as early as possible, to confirm the Tibet itinerary, time, venue and related documents.

D、After the Tibet Travel Permit issued, our travel agency will delivering the Permit to the tourist according to schedule. For those who take the train to Tibet, only need to bring the photocopy of Tibet Travel Permit to book the train ticket and board the train. If take the flight to enter Tibet, our travel agency will either deliver the original Tibet Travel Permit with express or send our co-worker to deliver the document to the transit airport, for only with the original Permit is allowed to board the flight.
